Possible Eddie size NW Swell?

Swell models show wave height may reach 20ft+ Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Doesn't look as large as first model forecast. Still have time for weather system to
intensify before reaching close to the Hawaiian Islands.

Swell models forecast for possible "Eddie" type of NW swell
setting up for next Saturday. Three times over head swell
should starting showing up Friday and peaking into Saturday
through Sunday. Expect Waimea and outer reef surf breaks
to be in action. An update to this swell will be posted
this coming Wednesday.

HD SurfCAM Testing

Testing begins with new HD SurfCAM.

Hardware configuration of this SurfCAM will allow portable & remote operation from any location in Hawaii that has
broadband wireless 3G coverage.

Plans being made to deploy this SurfCAM mainly to Waimea Bay, and other various North Shore breaks during
high surf and/or special event activity.

Kermit Quest

Quest to capture injured Hawaiian Monk Seal "Kermit" continues. Kermit is one of a the few
Hawaiian Monk Seals that visit White Plains Beach. Kermit has a large fish hook caught
in the bottom left side of his mouth. This was first reported approximately 11 days ago when
Kermit was sighted off Rabbit Island on the Windward side. He travelled to Waimanalo Beach,
Sandy Beach and now White Plains Beach. He is moving very slowly and usually staying close to shoreline.
Monk Seal Rescue report that Kermit is probably not eating due to his injury and is becoming weaker
each day. His left side of his face is swollen and may have infection setting in. Please report
monk seal sighting to NOAA Local Hot Line 220-7802

Hawaii's North Shore lacked the huge surf that was
experienced around the world this winter.

However, we did capture a few photos of local surfer Mercedes Maidana
from Argentina charging Waimea Bay with the guys. Mercedes has been
working hard surfing big Sunset and Waimea Bay. Glad to see
her selected this year for the Billabong Girls Performance Award!

Pipe firing late Friday afternoon as large NW swell peaked.
Pro & local surfers charging Pipe Prime Time EPIC conditions.
10-15ft occ 20ft peelers, a-frames and deep spitting tubes ripping through
the lineup.

Other locations around the globe getting more than their share. Let's hope Hawaii will have a BillabongXXL entry before the end of the holding period which ends March 20th 2009.

NW swell dropping Thursday. Reinforcing Friday 18-20ft.

Weather forecast for strong winds & heavy rain will create poor surfing conditions during
this large swell event.

Severe weather will probably create blow out choppy ocean conditions as front approach and pass the islands.

Poor ocean conditions. More large NW swells showing up in swell models.

Not the Primo conditions the Eddie would be looking for.

Eddie Size NW Swell

The North Pacific is starting to heatup for the winter!
Forecast models indicate possible huge 20ft+ swell. Another Huge swell
forecasted to develop behind this one as well. Updating information
to follow within the next few days. If forecast models to be correct,
Waimea Bay, JAWS and various outer reef breaks will be firing!

Eddie holding period usually begins 1Dec but
Quiksilver moved waiting period up due to
early huge swell activity this year

Wave heights could reach
20ft+ on the face however, Kona ESE winds might blow it out!

Swell model continues to forecast for huge NW swell rising fast late Friday into Saturday.

12/5/08 All three large NW swells were not large enough for Eddie.

I just want you to know that your website is helping me get through this long 15 month deployment. When I get a chance I always check your website for new pics and vids, makes me feel like I'm back on Island doing the thing I love the most. I'm currently with the 25th Infantry Division who deployed out of Hawaii in DEC of 2007. I so can't wait to get home, grab my board, paddle out at White Planes, and forget this place. WPB SurfCAM (Main page & Big Look) has been configured to auto refresh approximately every 60secs, and timeout after 7 minutes of viewing. Website visitor no longer need to refresh web browser to view next set of SurfCAM images. Excessively refreshing your web browser does no effect in viewing streaming images any faster.
